The people of Palm Beach County deserve a Center of Excellence within their community. The BioMotion Foundation, in response to the community's call for action, will lead the way to healthcare excellence in South Florida. Our vision for the future includes a state-of-the-art research and healthcare facility, The BioMotion Institute for Longevity and Mobility . . . a center of excellence within the community designed to accommodate orthopaedics, cardiology, neuro science, biomedical engineering, and an array of complementary programs. The goal is to improve performance and mobility for people of all ages and backgrounds . . . allowing people not only to live longer, but to live better. Additionally, advanced communication means will be employed at The Institute in order to provide local caregivers and their patients close interaction with physicians and other medical institutions throughout the country. Reality shows us there may be times when a patient is simply not capable of boarding a plane to seek medical care with a preferred physician practicing outside of Palm Beach County. By utilizing the highest level of telecommunications technology available today, the patient will be afforded the best collective care possible. The BioMotion Institute for Longevity and Mobility: Ø Wellness programs Ø Rehabilitation programs for all ages, including aquatic therapy Ø Women's health center Ø Diagnostic imaging center Ø Full service fitness center, indoor pool and track, spa, nutrition counseling, stress reduction and complementary therapies Ø World-class cardiac, orthopaedic and related medical services Ø Pharmacy, including orthopaedic and cardiac durable medical equipment Ø Hospitality services including hotel rooms and a restaurant Ø Teaching facility with auditorium, classrooms and full-range of telecommunications equipment Ø Meeting space for community healthcare groups The Board of Directors envisions a facility of at least 120,000 square feet to house all of the Institute's programs. A preliminary feasibility study has been conducted in concert with the Downtown Development Authority of West Palm Beach, to evaluate a potential institute site in a major downtown renewal project. The study suggested a site for the Institute several blocks North of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and City Place, and suggested an approximate cost of $20 million for the building.
